Two, they had 1 month from the time of my booking, to call and let me know of this so I have the ability to cancel. This means quite a few things to me.one, considering that I booked 1 month ago, meant that they were fully aware that their advertised side-by-side was no longer available. The woman said the Commander got wrecked TWO MONTHS ago with no intentions of replacing it. I was confused and spoke up, saying we had reserved a 2015 Commander and even called to confirm. She proceeded to tell us that the mechanic was not in that day and their Rhino utility vehicle (the machine out front that I mentioned earlier) was only available to run in one gear. We entered the general store to check-in and was greeted by a woman who handled our paperwork. Now to our surprise, when we arrived early in the morning on Halloween day for our ride, we were concerned when we didn't see our Commander out front.I did notice there was an old, run-down utility vehicle but figured it was just a random machine parked. So we went ahead and both took two days off from work, bought brand new goggles, boots, gloves and riding gear in addition to booking 2 nights at a nearby hotel for a non-refundable rate and drove 8 HOURS from our hometown which included a few tanks of gas refills and tolls both ways. Now mind you, I did my due diligence and also called Burning Rock one week prior to our trip to confirm our reservation and they confirmed everything was in the system as planned. I received my email confirmation and everything was good to go and we were super excited for our trip! I had booked our 2015 Can-Am Commander side-by-side, as clearly advertised on their website one month ago (in Sept) for one of the last full day rides of the season, on Halloween day. With that said, I must be very frank with my review of Burning Rock. The facilities, trails and accommodations are all top notch.įirst off, let me start out by saying I am generally a fair individual and a big proponent of providing great customer experiences if you are in the service or entertainment industry, with having several years of customer service under my belt. I would highly recommend Burning Rock for anyone wanting a family ATV adventure. They have just opened up a new section northeast of the campground and we didn't get a chance to get near that area.Įven with a band playing on Saturday night for the holiday weekend, all noisy activities were over by 9:30ish - GREAT feature with tired kids. I would recommend at least two days of riding in order to get the full experience of Burning Rock. The kids especially enjoyed the church in the woods, the old coal mine entrance, and the scenic overlooks. When the kids got thoroughly soaked, we headed back to the cabin, dried off, changed clothes and then went back out again once the rain stopped. Started with sunshine but had several bouts of rain throughout the day. Started on the Major Tams trail, had lunch back at the cabin and continued with green trails for the remainder of the day. Went white water rafting and then came back in time for evening zip line rides at Burning Rock. Made reservations for a full day white water rafting trip through the people at Burning Rock. There was ample room next to the cabin to park a 20' hauler in the dark with no problems. Cabins were clean and comfortable and quite suitable for the intended purpose. Even though we arrived late, we had called ahead for access code to the cabin. We did not get in until after 9:00pm but found our way out to Burning Rock with no problems - directions were extremely easy. We went to Burning Rock over Labor Day weekend. Burning Rock was the perfect place for novice hill riders. We wanted to introduce them to hills without throwing them head-first on to the Hatfield-McCoy trails. Our kids love 4-wheeling but all of their experience is in the flat lands Indiana and Michigan.
